If lettuce or eggs freeze in the fresh-food compartment, the temperature is set too low or cold air is bypassing controls. Start by raising the setting one or two degrees. Check that vents inside aren't blocked. If freezing continues at normal settings, the damper control or thermistor may be faulty.
F97 indicates a relay or control board fault on GE ovens. Cut power at the breaker for 5 minutes to reset the board — sometimes a temporary glitch resolves with a clean restart. If the code returns when you power back on, the main control board has failed and requires replacement.
First, confirm the washer is level — adjust the front feet if it rocks. Open the lid and redistribute the load if it's bunched on one side. If shaking is severe with normal balanced loads, the suspension rods or drive hub may be worn, requiring service to prevent damage.
Standing water at cycle end usually points to a clogged filter or pump. Pull the bottom rack and lift out the cylindrical filter — rinse it under hot water to clear food debris. Check the drain hose under the sink for kinks. Persistent issues likely mean a failed drain pump.
When clothes still feel damp after a full cycle, restricted airflow is almost always the culprit. Clean the lint filter thoroughly and inspect the exhaust vent from dryer to wall — even a partial blockage forces extended cycles. If airflow is clear, the heating element or moisture sensor may be failing.
If a gas burner refuses to click or light, the igniter is often clogged with grease or food. Turn off the gas, then gently clean the ceramic electrode tip with a toothbrush and water. Burner caps should sit flat. If no burner clicks, the spark module needs replacement.

Action: Replaced the electrode and harness with OEM parts, cleaned corrosion from the spark module terminal, and verified clean, reliable ignition on all four burners.
Diagnosis: Failed drain pump combined with a partially clogged check valve flap — the homeowner had cleaned the filter, but the deeper drainage path was the actual problem.
Action: Replaced the drain pump, cleared and reseated the check valve, ran two full diagnostic cycles, and confirmed the sump emptied completely before sign-off.
